VOTE for Hiking Hens Maria O’Grady and Fidelma Fearon

Please can we ask all our readers of the magazine to Vote for Maria O’Grady, from Lisnacree, and Fidelma Fearon, from Rostrevor, founders of the Hiking Hens walking group . They have been nominated for The Community Impact Award at The ARMAGHi People of the year 2022.

So you ask why should I vote for them , Well over the time doing this magazine we covered their story of the Hiking Hens walking group , and we are amazed that a group set up only after a short period of time has had such a massive impact on womens health and wellbeing as well as raising large amounts of money for Charity .

Nominated by Teresa McPolin, on behalf of all the group’s members. She said the pair give up a lot of their time and go “above and beyond” to make the hikes enjoyable, as well as raising thousands for – £8,700 in just six months for the Southern Hospice, Action Cancer and Co Armagh woman Aine Maney.

“This walking initiative is for women to get together, meet new people, have a chat, a laugh and a cuppa at the summit,” she said.

“The outdoors and adventure really are good for our mental health and keeping us all fit.

The photos we see on social media each week with smiles on theirs faces , enjoying the great outdoors and making new lasting friendships is proof that this has been and continues to be one of the best inspiration set ups of a group in years and given lots of women a goal and enjoy the hikes with friends and family .

So on that note please vote for Maria O’Grady and Fidelma Fearon...
