Park Walk initiative will be returning in January and February 2022!

We are excited to announce that our successful Park Walk initiative will be returning in January and February 2022!
Everyone is welcome at parkrun, and people can take part in whatever way suits them – as walkers, joggers, runners, volunteers and as supporters. But as we start 2022, the Park Walk campaign is a great way of encouraging even more walkers to join in the fun.
At parkrun, you can choose to walk all of the course, or even combine this with a jog if that feels right for you. You could bring a friend or family member or come on your own. Many events allow dogs, and if you prefer to use walking poles then feel free to walk with those.
As part of the Park Walk initiative, volunteer walk leaders will be on hand to meet new participants. They can be found at the start, close to the special Park Walk banner, and can answer any questions you might have as well as providing a huge dose of support and encouragement during the event itself.
There will also be a volunteer Tail Walker who is the person who finishes last, and remember that there is never a cut off time at parkrun so you can take as long as you like.
If you would like a bit of support in progressing to walking 5k, there is the parkrun Strive for Five program which you can do alone or with others.
If walking around a parkrun is not for you, maybe you could volunteer instead. There are a wide range of roles that you could do, and no experience is required. Volunteering gets you outside, in the fresh air and helps you connect with others and be part of something really special. Please email your local event team via the contact details on the event webpage to express your interest in volunteering, or just turn up and speak to the Run Director on the day.
For those who do not want to, or cannot, attend a parkrun there is also the opportunity to do (not)parkrun, which gives people more flexibility about when and where they might want to be active. As of November 2021, over 100,000 people have logged over 1.7million (not)parkruns.
If you’d like to join in Park Walk, please see your local event facebook page and check that they are participating in the Park Walk initiative. You can take part whenever you like, but please remember to register for parkrun and get your personal barcode beforehand.
If you have further questions then please email the event team via the contact details on the website or contact us at support@parkrun.com.
We look forward to welcoming you to Park Walk at parkrun!
