Newry City Half Marathon/ 10k 2022

Newry City Runners are delighted to announce the return of the Newry Half Marathon and 10K

General Information

The 2022 Newry City Half Marathon and 10k will both take place on Sunday 29th May. The Half will start at 10am and the 10k at 10:30am. Race numbers will be capped at 1000 for the Half and 300 for the 10k and both events are expected to sell out well in advance, so organisers Newry City Runners encourage everyone to enter early to avoid disappointment.

These events take place on closed roads.

New to the 2022 event is a team of three relay runners over the half marathon distance.

Leg 1 – 3 miles - Starting at the Quays Shopping Centre and comprising within the Greenbank Industrial estate

Leg 2 – 4.5miles – Starting at Greenbank Industrial estate running out towards Narrow Water Castle. Transport will be provided back to the finish zone.

Leg 3 – 5.5miles – After being bused to the starting point the route starts at the Narrowater and running to the finish line at the Quays Shopping Centre.

The 13.1 mile course takes in a scenic coastal route starting along the historic Newry Quay, outside of the The Quays Shopping Centre, Newry before heading down to Warrenpoint and the historic Narrow Water Castle on the scenic canal carriageway. The route has been designed to be fast and flat with definite personal best potential. In 2019 Tommy Hughes broke the World Record on this course making it one of the flattest and fastest half marathon routes within Ireland. For more detail, please click on the 'Route' link to see a map of the course.

Our new route for the 10k promises to be lightening quick, with a straightforward flat, fast approach used.
