Antrim Coast Half Marathon 2021 Selection Policy Available

Age Group: Senior
Northern Ireland team: Up to four (4) Men and four (4) Women (13.1 miles/21km)
The aim of the selection for this competition is to provide a development opportunity for athletes on the Athletics NI Athlete Development Pathway and a competition opportunity to prepare for future international competition.
Selection Timeline
The selection window to achieve the standard opens on 1st April 2021 and closes on 8th August 2021.
The date of the selection meeting will be the week beginning 9th August.
Selection Panel
Selections will be made by the Athletics Northern Ireland selection panel comprising
The Director of Coaching and Athlete Development or other staff member if unavailable (voting)
A representative of the cross country and road running committee (voting)
A representative of the Ulster Athletics Council
The selection panel may also (at their discretion) seek assistance (in a non-voting capacity) from anyone else that may be of help.
Any voting member of the Selection Panel shall declare his or her conflict of interest in respect of any selection issue and shall not be entitled to vote on that issue.
Selection criteria
The following consideration standards will be taken into account when athletes are considered for selection:
Men – Half Marathon
Half Marathon – 68:30 minutes; 10 miles – 52:00 mins
Women – Half Marathon
Half Marathon – 76 minutes; 10 miles – 57:30 minutes
Where there are fewer athletes with the consideration standard than the team size, numbers will not be back filled. Qualification performances must be achieved between 1 April 2021 and 8th August 2021.
In addition, the following may be taken into consideration:
Documented evidence that athletes are committed to their own development and have shown progression in the last two years
Adherence to the Code of Conduct and any outstanding disciplinary matters
The criteria above are not listed in any order of priority and those involved in selecting will exercise discretion fairly and without bias in making selection decisions.
