Our Goal ...

The Active Runner Online Magazine formed in 2020 and founded by Kevin Gallagher  from Warrenpoint in  Co.Down is a platform to share events , stories on runners and most importantly be a fundraiser for The Southern Area Hospice with our 12 issue  monthly magazine and website full of the latest news and events..

The main aim of the magazine is to raise badly needed money towards The Southern Area  with all money going to them from the JustGiving page.

Companies can pay for ad space that suits them and all going to the Hospice, we have a sponsor opportunity brochure with rates to suit everyone at our Sponsor Us page. The magazine also hopes that readers who like reading the magazine   donate too at the Justgiving page, all we ask is that  if you like the magazines   and  website  to please give a small donation of just £2  towards our goal raising £3,000 for the Hospice. If all readers did this it would really help the Hospice. Please also contact us at our be in the next issue page if you have a story or an  event.

Alot of work goes into the magazines and would not be possible  with out our many  contributors  Patricia Brown , Frank Greally , Maeve Kenny , Evan Scully , Conor Crilly and Ben Leen Smith a big thank you to them all.

A big thank you to Kimbia Coffee who have come onboard as our main sponsor for 2021 please support them here and buy their amazing coffee HERE

History ...

Listening and talking to fellow runners over the years and always asking when and where was the next event,  I saw a need to share the events with fellow runners and to support our events also as a lot of hard work goes into them.  Over the years too running I have met  great people doing amazing things and wanted to share their stories to inspire others, so  got to work setting up Active Runner which now along with Facebook, Instagram pages, and now with a new website  to add  latest news , live events guide from all over Ireland we hope to do our best to bring it all to you.

In the early days of adding events to facebook and good luck mesages to fellow runners etc on first The Newry  Mourne Runners and then  Get Active Down Armagh a massive thank you has to go to Colm Bootsy Fearon  who helped out with it all and we even had a spot on Detination Newry  on Saturday mornings sharing events and a wee bit of craic, a man who has inspired many and continues to do so with his many events and craic at running events all over Ireland.
